The New Conservative

Old man writing furiously

From the Man Cave XXX

The Man Cave is celebrating its thirtieth column today. They have been produced frequently lately due to the never-ending stream of nonsense that emanates from our press, politicians and local council. But today is also another remarkable day in my own history, as I decided not to renew my registration as a nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) of the United Kingdom.

I first registered as a nurse, following my training at St George’s Hospital London in 1984. I had generally maintained that I had never regretted the decision to become a nurse. It has kept me continuously in work, fed my family, put a roof over our heads and I have travelled – and continue to travel – the world on the back of my work in nursing.

But my ‘je ne regret rien’ attitude turned to regret that I had not left the register immediately on retirement in 2021. Shortly after retirement, based on my articles on lockdown, Covid-19 vaccines and the ‘pandemic’ generally (none of it in accord with the established narrative, you might guess) some snivelling and anonymous little shit (I mean that in a very loving and Christian way, of course) reported me to the NMC for bringing nursing into disrepute, and providing misleading health information to the public.

The ‘disrepute’ point because, along with ‘failed academic’ (as described by Hope not Hate) Dr Niall McCrae I called out nursing for its complicity with the Covid-19 narrative, and for seeking a substantial pay rise when most of them had spent the ‘pandemic’ doing bugger all* and being paid throughout, unlike most people. Niall and I had been at this for a while, both of us being disgusted with our profession and both of us getting into trouble with the NMC.

As it turned out, with the help of Toby Young at the Free Speech Union and colleagues from the Health Advisory and Recovery Team (HART) it was decided – after eight months – that I had no case to answer. The whole sordid story is recounted in the Daily Sceptic.

The pushback begins (in Leeds)

I was delighted to learn about the Leeds football fans booing the break in play of fifteen minutes at the weekend to allow Manchester City’s Muslim players to break their Ramadan fast. I have heard of this happening at other football grounds recently, but this seems to be the first time it has been booed.

Of course, the BBC reported that someone said it was ‘disappointing’. Why? This never happened before and, in any case, Ramadan is simply a matter of missing lunch, which plenty of people do. The fact that they do not drink even water for a prolonged period is utterly mad, but it is their decision.

At the appointed time, chuck them a bottle of water or an energy drink and just carry on; they’re not going to die. Moreover, we’re not a Muslim country – end of story. I turned to Patrick West’s column in The Spectator with trepidation as The Spectator has let me down more than once in recent months, especially under Gove’s editorship. But I need not have worried, West hoped this was the start of the resistance and I do too.

Hull has not got the memo yet

But here in the most easterly point of the East Riding of Yorkshire – where we have a Reform Mayor – the Hull City Hall was given over to a Grand Iftar this week. A ‘civic’ Grand Iftar which rather suggests that some of my hard-earned council tax went towards funding this multicultural tomfoolery. Again, I ask why? Referring to my point above, this is just a bunch of folks who have decided to skip lunch.

What is the big deal and why are we bending over to accommodate the continuous infringement of Islam into our culture? I am a Roman Catholic, currently observing Lent, but I would not expect the local council to fund the chocolate and alcohol binge that inevitably takes place on Easter Sunday, and would be very surprised if they recognised Lent and Easter in any way.

It is time we paid more attention to the Leeds football fans and less attention to sucking up to a religion and community that does not have our best interests at heart. If these people think that they will be shown any more mercy than critics like me when the Caliphate assumes power, they are deluding themselves.

* Sorry, they did not do nothing, I completely forgot about the TikTok videos.

I know nothing, and care even less, about football. If professional footballers earn ridiculous amounts of money for kicking a bag of wind around a field, presumably they are employed as top athletes. Why any employer of top athletes would permit them to lessen their abilities by not eating or drinking is beyond my comprehension. Simply insert something in their contracts or don’t use them durjng Ramadan and give some local lads a chance. Actually, it’s not beyond my comprehension -sport and football in particular is synominous with all things woke and all the inconsistencies this ‘new religion’ encompasses.

  2. I cannot see why you got punished by the NMC as long as you didn’t use your professional rank (RGN)etc to substantiate your views it doesn’t make sense and you should have taken it further.
