Black on White Crime: The Wrong Narrative

The savage murder of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina, took place almost three weeks ago. It has, alas, only recently been acknowledged by the mainstream media. The CCTV footage, widely circulated via social media, is chilling for so many reasons—not least of which is the fact that the killer, DeCarlos Brown Jr, is oft-depicted hovering ghoul-like behind the unsuspecting Iryna as she casually checks her phone. There could be no finer meme juxtaposing the evil stalking the West and the innocence of those picking up the tab.

When they determined they could ignore Zarutska’s murder no longer, the media were predictably disingenuous in their reporting, electing either to blame the Right for making political capital or hiding behind the passive voice to such an extent that it is not clear who stabbed whom:

The pattern, regrettably, is a tried and tested one. When innocent white victims are routinely slaughtered at the hands of black criminals, Western liberals are faced with an uncomfortable dilemma: what to do about the racial overtones? Racism, while so fundamental to the black victimhood narrative, is convenient to ignore when it doesn’t suit your argument. To the Left, the bad guys are not so much the criminals themselves but invariably the conservatives who dare to notice a possible connection.

While racist attacks against whites are difficult to substantiate—partly because the fashionable view is that one cannot be racist towards whites, and partly because no one who matters wants to mention it—the pattern is getting harder to ignore. What was it, for instance, that made Emmanuel Aranda (who was ‘looking for someone to kill’) choose five-year-old Landen Hoffmann to throw off a third-floor balcony? Why did Darius Sessoms elect to shoot and kill five-year-old Cannon Hinnant, whose only crime it seems was riding his bike? And what exactly was it about the three beautiful little girls, Bebe, Elsie, and Alice, that so aggravated Axel Rudakubana in Southport?

Race, however, is pivotal in this case—as witnessed by DeCarlos himself. The CCTV footage clearly shows DeCarlos saying, “I got that white girl.” He also chose not to target the four black passengers in the vicinity—none of whom, incidentally, sprang to Iryna’s aid after she was repeatedly stabbed.

Had the races been reversed (white assailant, black victim, white bystanders), the Left would finally have got the image, the meme and the Netflix series it has been chasing for decades. Instead, it has to content itself with canonising scumbags like George Floyd and Chris Kaba.

Still, on the upside, there will be no riots for Zarutska—a woman who tragically swapped a genuine warzone for the ‘vibrant diversity’ of Charlotte. She was neither black nor a career criminal nor a gang member. In the end, that may have been to her detriment.

As is so often the case, the authorities are arguably complicit in Zarutska’s death. It is not uncommon for ultra-lenient sentences to be handed out to black criminals. As a case in point, recall the astonishing community service granted to Brittany Covington, who chose to live-stream the torture and beating of a mentally handicapped man. That was nothing, however, compared to the suspended sentence given to Joshua Gardner. Gardner was involved in a traffic altercation and attempted to break into the opposing car with an enormous zombie knife in what looks like a clear case of attempted murder.

Unsurprisingly then, DeCarlos Brown—despite a decade of arrests, including for robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault—was released by Judge Teresa Stokes on nothing more than a written promise to appear. This has led Republicans to call for her dismissal. Thanks to Judge Stokes, Iryna didn’t get a second chance in life; DeCarlos got 14.

Of course, individual cases mean little when building an overall picture. But building an overall picture is difficult when the anti-whiteness of the authorities is an open secret. In Britain, the police are loath to record the race of suspects—omitting to do so in a staggering two-thirds of those referred to Prevent, the counter-extremism programme. Draw your own conclusions as to why that might be. The UK constabulary also ignore ‘hate incidents’ committed against whites.

None of this is new. Two decades ago, even the fantastically left-leaning Guardian was reporting on the fact that black-on-white crime goes underreported, as it is simply unpalatable to the media. Here is former Chief Constable of Cheshire, Peter Fahy, explaining the media’s lack of curiosity when murder victims are young white men:

“The political correctness and reluctance to discuss these things absolutely does play a factor. A lot of police officers and other professions feel almost the best thing to do is try and avoid it for fear of being criticised. We probably have all got ourselves into a bit of state about this. The difficulty in the police service is that the whole thing is being closed down because we are all afraid of discussing any of it in case we say the wrong thing—and that is not healthy.”

With British authorities fantastically reluctant to accurately record data, we have to rely on our cousins across the pond to fill us in. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, per capita rates of black-on-white murders are approximately 10 times higher than white-on-black. That, in a nutshell, is why the media were reluctant to report on Iryna’s murder.

There’s a deeper issue involved here, however, more than simply crime. The very heart of Western culture appears to be anti-white. I have written about this extensively in Banalysis: The Lie Destroying The West, but suffice it to say, whiteness, in and of itself, is now presented as a crime. The UK police consider it worth their while to ‘investigate’ posters reading “It’s okay to be white” and classify “White Lives Matter” as a hate crime. Even the English language itself has capitulated. The prefix ‘white’ is now almost exclusively pejorative (white privilege, white fragility, whitesplaining). And custodians of the language, like the Associated Press, refuse to capitalise ‘white’, despite affording ‘Black’ the privilege. Iryna, undoubtedly, paid a price for that too.

While the liberal commercialisation of black ‘victimhood’ and vilification of whites is obviously causal, part of the blame for the capitulation of Western culture must be attributed to the lack of conservative pushback against this nonsense. Perhaps the tide is turning, but even if so—it’s been long overdue.

Several questions now demand answers:

• Why are we continually force-fed a gaslighting narrative of black victimhood, when the opposite is so clearly true?
• Why are the lives of whites seen as little more than collateral damage compared to the rights of career criminals?
• Why is the cultural nirvana of ‘diversity’ only required in white countries?
• And how long can this disastrous pattern be allowed to continue?

In the case of Iryna Zarutska, we will no doubt soon be hearing the deployment of the ‘mental health’ card in DeCarlos Brown’s defence. Of course, that may well be true. It’s funny though how the sufferers of this affliction are so systematic in the ‘random’ targets they select.
