The current occupant of Number 10 Downing Street seems seized by religious fervour. Will we soon hear of a sudden conversion to one of the world’s major faiths? The problem is: which one?
So far, we have had calls to prayer and iftars in Westminster acknowledged by Sir Keir in recognition of the special time of Ramadan for our ‘Muslim community’. We have had best wishes for some or other Hindu festival which only seems fair as we recently had a Hindu Prime Minister, and most recently little Jewish boys and girls at Number 10 discussing with the Prime Minister the importance of the Jewish feast of Passover.
Enthusiasm for Islam at governmental level, as we have previously reported in TNC, is reflected at Highgrove House where His Royal and Majestic Mullah cannot find enough to say about his respect for Islam, and his obvious awe at how anyone can deprive themselves of food for a few hours a day. Perhaps he should speak to the pensioners who live on a pittance and whose winter fuel allowance was cut, and see how they are managing every day of the year.
There are more elephants in the rooms at Number 10 and Highgrove Mosque than at Chester Zoo. By now, the stench in these places must be overpowering. That is, if you can smell elephant poo over the smell of the spiritual bullshit liberally smeared around these places.
How one dreams of seeing Charles, while addressing the nation on the virtues of Islam, being tapped on the shoulder by an adviser who says: “Ahem, Your Majesty, but are these not the ones who oppress women and wish to see our way of life destroyed?” Similarly, at Number 10, mid discussion with the little Jewish boys and girls: “Ahem, Prime Minister, but are these not the ones who crucified Jesus? Maybe a bit insensitive during Lent and the run up to Holy Week and Easter. And those Hindu chaps are cutting it up rough with both Muslims and Christians in India – maybe best not to big them up either.”
And who mentioned Lent and Easter? Well, to date nobody. Certainly not Rabbi Keir or Mohamed of Windsor (peace be upon him). It is a glaringly obvious fact that neither the political leader of our country nor our Sovereign and head of the Church of England has had a single word to say about the most important feast of what remains the established religion of the United Kingdom, Christianity.
I say ‘to date’ as there is just the possibility that this weekend as England and Wales shut up shop for the Easter weekend (Scotland does not), that either one or both the Prime Minister and the King may say something appropriate about Easter. But I am not holding my breath.
A Muslim friend with whom I have shared my consternation about the lack of any mention of Lent assured me that there would be some mention of it from Parliament or Buckingham Palace. Came there none; I wish I had put on a bet with her. It is supremely ironic that the only political leader of any note to mention Lent and Easter was the Muslim Mayor of London, and much-loved friend of TNC, Sadiq Khan.
Whilst not an original observation, it is obvious that multiculturalism, that great sickness which sweeps the land and infects even the most impregnable and established organisations and corporations, is ‘multi’ only to the extent that it excludes our own culture and religion.
Christianity exhorts a love of the sinner while Islam throws them off roofs. Judaism, while unlike Islam, has made a tangible contribution to the foundations of our established religion, science, philosophy and culture, remains a religion without forgiveness (“an eye for an eye” etc). Christians are exhorted to turn the other cheek. Nowhere is this more evident than in Gaza, albeit provoked by an outrage, which is being reduced to rubble while Hamas seems both undefeated and undeterred and can muster hundreds of their barbaric masked supporters to jeer at the released Israeli captives.
If there is neither royal nor prime ministerial mention of Easter, then we will know all that we need to know about the extent to which our Christian culture is being demolished. If there is mention of Easter, why was Lent ignored?
The primacy of Christianity – either cultural or religious – must be reestablished in the United Kingdom. That will require more than words. It will require some pushback on the widespread recognition of other faiths, especially one determined to destroy us. Frankly, I would be happy for there to be no mention of Islam, Hinduism or even Judaism from our overlords. After all, where each of these religions prevail, there is no official mention of Christianity.

Roger another very interesting article, as a Christian and a not so regular church goer I do find our religion is being side lined. We have no moral leadership from our leaders (used lightly). I have over many years that a basic following of CofE, love, kindness, respect, turning the other cheek has not done me and my family any harm, but this moral compass is missing from a majority of the younger generations and that will be to our peril.

In some ways they are probably following the lead provided by the current and ex lunatics of the CofE who have spent their time running the organisation into the ground.
Given the choice between platitudinous crap from ‘leaders’ about every religion or silence, I’d prefer silence and leave it to the faithful to do their own thing (unless it’s anti-social).
